some thoughts on spanking...

photo by Courtney Trouble from No Fauxxx

Preparing for my first big sex ed gig at Good Vibrations has had me thinking about spanking a lot. Which, truth be told, isn't honestly that big a change from my normal ratio of thoughts-about-things-other-than-spankings to thoughts-about-spankings.

Often times people who enjoy spanking do so not because of any association with pain, discipline or kinky fantasy play, but because IT FEELS FUCKING GREAT for the top AND the bottom. Even though spanking can be a mild, affordable, simple way to explore your own sado-masochism (ie the sexual enjoyment of giving or receiving pain), spankings don't have to hurt.

Often the spanker simply adores looking at and touching asses; and similarly, many people who enjoy being spanked do so because it makes them feel sexually open, stimulated, and worshipped. After all, the ass is the flesh that surrounds the sensitive nerves of the genitals, and any manipulation of that area brings blood, sensation, and attention to the place even the most vanilla folks would agree is sort of the idea of sexual arousal. So you see, it's really not rocket science to understand why spanking is sexy.

Many early sexual encounters and a lot of foreplay involves breast worship, so much so that feeling up titties is humorously and commonly associated with the desires of horny teenagers. But I would make a well-informed if not strictly scientific assertion that not as many teenagers get into involved ass-worship, like massaging, kissing, smothering (not to be confused with rimming or even face-sitting cunnilingus, per ce, but specifically burying in or pressing your face against the juicy flesh of an ass...mmm...), or spanking the ass of their partners. Expressing or acting on an ass fixation as opposed to "being a breast man" labels someone dirty, perverted, or gay: all compliments in the mind of this particular ass-fetishist, but sites of extreme shame and denial for many people. I think it takes a lot more trust to engage in ass-focused (again, not necessarily anal!) play and therefore it can be much more thrilling and rewarding.
